This information is presented
with no specific "advocacy" in mind. Below are links to
webpages that I have found particular "hot", interesting, or
controversial. Feel free to email me if you are wondering if I
have a position on any of them, but as a strong believer in making
educated decisions, I know how important it is to try to keep up
with the amazing information flow around us. Sometimes I may
include a brief summary of the topic. These aren't mine so
don't be surprised if an occasional link doesn't work, but hopefuly
you may find some of these items useful.

Intellectual Property Primer Part 1
Intellectual Property Primer Part 2
"trak.in" is an Indian
business blog covering a great deal about business
opportunites in India, but in this case, represents a great
summary of Intellectual Property laws in the US and
internationally. |
Every year companies and
individuals lose millions of dollars by not having protected
inventive and innovative work that they do using
intellectual property laws. I've spent many years
working with patents and copyright protections with
businesses that I've worked in. Intellectual property
management is highly complex and can be expensive to create
full management programs for, but can pay off for you
dramatically. Strangely enough, the best simple
"primer" on the topic that I have bumped into for years is
represented by the two part article with links here, written
by an individual in India. These do not pretend to
provide legal advice, but do give you the simple definitions
that you need to get ready to ask good questions of great
legal minds. |

Sony Personal Internet Viewer Overview |
Several years ago, I began
advocating in businesses for strong focus on preparation for
and programming work on mobile device interfaces. Most
of that consideration involved thoughts regarding Apple's
iPhone, Blackberry, and Google's early pronouncements.
This has been an interesting market that Apple dominates,
but about two years ago, with the emergence of "netbooks", I
realized that the "mobility" paradigm would take on a number
of different form factors that would have to be considered.
Recently, we've all seen the initial impact of the iPad, but
now, close on the heels of that comes Sony's Personal
Internet Viewer. Trust me!!! There are many more
coming. Keep your eyes out with me as it continues. |

calls. This is a great collection of summary
information about the many different aspect of VoIP that may

Virtualization - What does it really mean?
|
"Virtualization".
Are you wondering what it really means? This is a nice
primer on the topic. It is a couple years old, but is
still one of the nicest, simple articulations of key aspects
of the technology that will play a role in your future if it
ha not already |

This is definitely
demonstrative of my geeky side. A great collection of
links on Analytics and Risk assessment. There is much
here that is worth reviewing if you are into Markets
Analysis, Risk and Security, or Capacity/Performance
analysis. |

|
When I became very
actively engaged in a Technology Strategy role several years
ago; key topics involved Voice over IP and new network
configurations like MPLS. One of the
observations I made to a number of folks was that "THE WORLD
WILL BECOME A MUCH BIGGER COLLECTION OF PRIVATE NETWORKS".
That main thrust is, while the PSTN (for telephony) and the
Internet (for data, primarily) will continue to grow; more
and more entities will interconnect their own private
networks with key partners, customers, and vendors to meet
savings, performance, and security objectives. This is
a good discussion site to develop your thinking on this same
topic. Please feel free to contact me if you'd like to
discuss a specific situation. |

Definitions: Data Store vs. Data
Warehouse???
|
This is a great, simple
contrast in definitions of and Data Store
vs. Data Warehouse. Often the two
terms are used interchangeably by implementers, but there
really are some clear differentiators between the concepts.
I recommend this as a very quick education on the two
topics. There is much more out there in cyber-space if
you do an internet search on the terms, but as a short
explanation, this is great.
